Ordover Gallery/Natural History Museum/Balboa

When I went to Ordover Galley in Balboa, it was amazing to see all the work and the amazing shots that some photographers were able to get. It was all about Baja, California and included so many photos that you would never have expected. The digital photogrpahers in this exhibit showed many sides of that area that I had never seen before. When I walked in, it was amazing, but when I left I felt inspired to go out and shoot some photos and want to know more about my camera and what it could do and I could do to get so much more out of my pictures. One person that really inspired me was flip nicklin, because of the vibrance of the photos and the amazing sea life pictures we shot. What I loved too about his work is that light shines through water and it's always pretty to see, but the way the light shines through and bounces off his subjects, such as the dolphins is just something that only a true photographer would capture because i'm sure it took a million "okay" pictures to get some the truly breathtaking photos he has today. I've always been afraid of things such as scuba diving, and underwater life, but he makes you think twice about what's really under the water and the beauty that we are missing when we don't explore. When I got home, I looked up some of his images, because I was so amazed by his work, but my favorite was his photos of dolphins. (Bottlenose dolpins, in Hawaii)

Book FINISHED

Finally I sent my book to blurb to get printed. I am very exited to see what the pictures will look like printed out. I know they always look different from on the computer screen. I am planning on using this book as a test run and then printing more and giving a few to family for christmas, so they can see some images of camp pendleton and some of the atmosphere that's around us, as we are based here in california. Collier Schorr

Collier Schorr is a photographer that really concentrated on the male figure and body and the sport of wrestling really intrigued her as she chose these moments. She shows in her work and through her words that she's interested in the way men are tired or more exhausted after the act of wrestling or hard work. She also did work that concentrated on the holocaust, which is depressing but again one of those photographers that don't just take a pretty picture but show the world a history of what happened insead of forgetting the past. She's a pretty good photographer all in all even though her style is not like many that I've seen.

James Nachwey

James Nachway was a war photographer that took pictures that capture the real and horrile moments that happen and we just don't want to see. I would post a picture of his work on my blog, but it's so hard to look at those photos that I just don't want to see them multiple times, so I am just posting his image. I think his work is something that really makes a difference in our world because he shows the world what happens in other countries in a time of war or harship and he does it in a way that makes people want to do something and get involved in some way to help. If photography can do anything, it needs to be able to move people to be active, get involved and be concious of what is happening outside of their world. I think James has a strong will to get the word out about people in need, and he must have a stong mind to be able to handle all the things in which he sees and deals with in taking these photographs.

Panoramic: Redlands

I took this pano out in the redlands area about 3 weeks ago. The picture is darker on the right side than the left, but it was early morning and the sun was just creeping up behind the mountain. Only one side of the mountain is lit up, but I still really like this picture. I will keep in mind, lighting next time though!

Wheels of a Tank on CP

I used this photo as my cover for my book. I really like it because it was one of my first attempts working with manual focus, and I really brightened up the colors from the dull color it was originally.

Marines on CP

This was taken on camp pendleton after some marines got off work. I loved the old building behind these guys as they were walking. I think the yellow in the road really stands out as well. I bet they thought I was creepy taking their picture, but it was just one of those moments that I had to get!
